FAQs.

  • Telehealth therapy, also known as virtual-based therapy, is psychotherapy that is provided via a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform. Please confirm with your insurance carrier your specific benefits related to telehealth therapy.

  • PROCESS. Psychotherapy is solely a virtual-based practice. All sessions will be held via a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform.

At the time of session, you must be in the state where the therapist has licensure and/or authority to provide services. Currently, Carly is able to see residents of Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and participating PSYPACT states.

  • The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) is an interstate compact designed to facilitate the practice of telepsychology across state boundaries.

Carly has met the requirements and has been granted the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) through PSYPACT. This allows Carly to provide service into participating states where she does not currently hold a license.

  • We are in-network with BCBS PPO & Blue Choice plans and UnitedHealthcare/Optum PPO. As a convenience to you, we will submit claims to your primary insurance for you. Prior to our initial intake session, please reach out to your insurance directly to review your telehealth and behavioral health benefits.

If your insurance plan is out-of-network, we will provide you with a ‘superbill’/suitable statement that you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.

PROCESS. Psychotherapy is able to offer a select number of sliding scale/discounted rate reoccurring slots. If in need, please bring this up so that options can be explored. If a slot is unfortunately not available at the time you need it, Carly will attempt to provide you with reduced rate referrals she is familiar with.

  • If you are utilizing in-network insurance, you are responsible for the co-payment at time of session. You are additionally responsible for payments that go towards your deductible. Please note, an estimate of benefits does not guarantee coverage. If insurance does not cover the cost of your sessions, you will be responsible for the full charge.

If you are out-of-network, you are responsible for paying the private pay rate at time of session.

If you are a sliding scale client, you are responsible for paying the agreed upon rate at time of session.

Late cancellation fee: You are responsible for paying your full session fee for each missed session/session cancelled less than 24-hours in advance.

An in-depth description of fees can be found in the Consent for Services and Acknowledgement of Financial Obligations form that is sent prior to the initial intake session.

  • PROCESS. Psychotherapy requires a minimum of 24-hours notice to cancel a session. If this criteria is not met, you are responsible to pay your full session fee prior to attending a next session.

If a missed appointment/late cancellation occurs, a confirmation of next session is also required so as to reduce the risk of consecutive missed appointments. Cancellations and confirmations can be communicated by email or phone message.

  • As of January 1, 2022, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the legal right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights or call 800-985-3059.

  • Starting out, it is most common to do one session per week.

Carly routinely assesses the therapeutic need and may make recommendations for changing frequency to match.

As symptoms or concerns consistently improve, session frequency may taper down to every-other-week and then to once monthly or as needed.

  • 19 years and older.

  • PROCESS. Psychotherapy currently provides outpatient individual therapy.

Carly uses a blend of process-oriented, relational, and evidenced based practices. Early on in your therapy, you will identify what your initial needs are. Examples include targeting: emotion labeling + processing, coping skills, interpersonal effectiveness, insight building, increasing motivation for change + taking steps, core belief work, and esteem building.

As therapy progresses, you may define new goals. Carly recognizes that life does not stop simply because you are now in therapy. This means, as new things arise you have choice to shift focus and recommit to your therapy goals.
